Alexander and Agnes Anderson were married in Dublin Ireland. They immigrated to Carberry Manitoba and lived there for several years before moving to Swan River in 1898. Alexander was frustrated with the sandy land in Carberry and traveled north in search of better land. He carried wheat in his chest pocket and planted it in the Swan River Valley. He returned in the fall and was satisfied to see that it had filled out well and not been killed off by frost. They purchased NE 15 35 27 W as part of the homestead act.

Today over one 125 years later we are still farming in the same valley and strive to live by the same principles. Bruce, Ione, Austen and Katie operate Anderson Cattle Company Inc.

In 2011 Anderson Cattle Company was recognized by the Canadian Angus Association for 75 years of commitment and dedication to the Angus Breed in Canada.

Our location in the parkland dictates that our cattle are hardy enough to survive long harsh winters with minimal assistance.  They are fertile and productive raising big strapping calves on marginal pasture, riparian areas and poplar forests.

In 2018 Anderson Cattle Co was named Manitoba Angus Purebred Breeders of the Year.  We strive to promote our cattle to the highest level honoring the legacy of stockmanship that Doug Anderson held in such high regard.
